Allison Pt. 5

Everyone has a song that reminds him or her of someone. Either they bring a smile to your face, tears to your eyes, anger and maybe that sense of nostalgia.

It was a Thursday night and Allison was in her car after her usual work out. She plugged in her white iPhone to the radio and hit the shuffle button and the first song that came on was her favourite song in 2010. Allison inhaled as she heard the familiar tempo of the piano cover echoing through the speakers. She knew every word but she refused to sing.

Allison was driving at the same highway she takes every other day from college but her mind was else where, it was in 2010, back when she was lying on her queen sized bed, back when she had her black Phillips iPod player taped on her bed stand and waking up next to her boyfriend was a routine.

I remember tracing your body with my index finger as you lay there, fast asleep. I remember tracing your collar bones, I remember lying down with my right hand supporting my head as I looked at you, wondering how on earth did I get here.

Allison thought to herself.

And before she knew it, Allison had pressed the replay button, driving in silence, listening to the same song for what seemed like 15 minutes until she was home.
