"She instagrams herself like bad bitch alert, he instagrams himself like mad rich alert"
Reading
some of the things published on thoughtcatalog made me wonder, some of the
stuff were (no offence) total bullshit like ways to measure love, psh really,
what do you use, a 5 cm blade.
However,
some did make a clear point.
It seems to me like everyone is competing for the best photo on Instagram. The
things we see in the photos are so often what we perceive or assume a person’s
life is yet little did we know, one actually put an effort to go through all
lengths, to go through the bad traffic on a Friday afternoon, to spend the
money on the best looking food (it doesn't necessarily have to taste good but it's more of the presentation instead) just so it could make a good photo on Instagram. (WHERE
THE FUCK IS THE SUN THIS LIGHTING IS SHIT LETS MOVE TABLES)
What we
do not know behind those big toothy smiles from that picture you just browsed through
was the persistent friend that kept on forcing the others to smile, or the
other friend who would rather be taking photos of them instead of being in the
photo, or the other friend who lied to her mom just so she could take the day
off from helping her out at home. Little did we know that behind all these
photos, lays reality?
So maybe
we go through Facebook and there is that one girl (since boys can’t really be
bothered to upload 10 hundreds of photos of a party they just attended unless
he is more to the girly side) who has her FRIENDS/FOR KEEPS/PRECIOUS GEMS etc
etc album updated on a weekly basis with photos of the never ending parties
(that you were not aware of because lets face it you’re not cool enough) the
never ending smoking sessions at her friend’s cool mansion (or terrace house/apartment/cardboard box)
the never ending picnics with their pretty mats and pretty food in their pretty
dresses and you can’t help but to feel somewhat annoyed and agitated which then
lead you to shit talking this person you barely know.
Maybe it
is all smiles and butterflies for this girl and your life isn’t looking its
best right now, maybe you don’t have 5000 followers on Instagram and maybe your
selfie gets like 20 likes (including 1 from mom)(WHY ARE YOU EVEN FOLLOWING ME) but hey it’s
fine, you don’t need to be bitter about it.
I would love seeing photos of a person’s bitter reality. Or sweet
reality. Whatever. I would rather see a photo of your lonely afternoon, where
you enjoy the company of yourself, just reading and sketching, sketching and
reading and maybe watching a lame movie on Megashare. I would much rather see a
photo of your 3 year old Nike shoes still looking rad as fuck. I would much
rather see a photo of your artwork, even if it’s a sketch of Obama as to
describing your obamaself situation.
But then
again, that’s just me.
